Pittsburgh Region Cadillac LaSalle Club
From the Desk of the Director
August, 2008

Well, we’re now approaching the “dog days” of summer. What does that mean? We’re trying so hard to cram everything into the remaining days of summer that we’re scrambling around like puppies? Please don’t forget your Pittsburgh Region CLC friends during these “dog days”! We’ve got the Grand National coming up the second week in August (see below for information on the caravan out to Cherry Hill). Additional Fall Event Dates are also included on p. 3.

Please also see p. 5 in this month’s Chatter for information about a new addition to the calendar for September: the GM Heritage Tour Weekend in Michigan. The focal point of this event is a tour of the fabulous GM Heritage Center, located in the Detroit area. This collection is the private property of General Motors, and as such, it is not open to the public. The collection includes a delightful assortment of historical cars and memorabilia from all of the GM marques, from the earliest days to recent times. There is even a GM Futurliner bus that contains a working three-dimensional exhibit, showing how the automobile transformed American society in the first half of the twentieth century. GM has extended an invitation to each of its principal marque clubs to visit this collection on a designated date. The designated time for the Cadillac & LaSalle Club visit is Friday evening, September 19th, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Motor City Region has added other events during the day on Friday the 19th and Saturday the 20th to create an attractive opportunity for out-of-town visitors to make a weekend out of it. We hope you’ll enjoy the automotive history that abounds in the Detroit area and help GM celebrate 100 years!

Since the GM Weekend is such a fabulous one-time-only opportunity, we decided to make room for it in our schedule. Thus, we’ve removed a tentatively-scheduled event in our calendar to prevent any conflicts. Please note that the August 30th Destination Cruise as well as the September 20th second Car Show are both cancelled. Don’t fret: we thought the Annual CLC Picnic could also serve as another opportunity to showcase our classic cars! (The picnic will also serve as the September Board & Membership Meeting, too.) Don’t forget about Tech Nite at Carl’s and we hope you’re looking forward to the Destination Cruise in October. Hope to see you all soon — in the meantime, drive smart, drive right, drive Cadillac!
